WIFI Connection Hour: From Burnout to Boundaries Power Hour Recap
On May 7, the Women In the Floorcovering Industry (WIFI) community came together for a different kind of Power Hour, one designed not just to inspire attendees, but to actively engage them in meaningful conversation and practical reflection. WIFI Connection Hour: From Burnout to Boundaries marked the first interactive Power Hour format in WIFI history, incorporating small-group discussions that allowed participants to connect, collaborate, and learn directly from one another in real time.
This marked the first discussion-based Power Hour in WIFI history, creating a more engaging and impactful experience focused on leadership, workplace well-being, communication, and sustainable success in today’s fast-paced professional environment.
Hosted by Crosby Hall (Louisville Tile), the session featured a group of accomplished industry leaders who facilitated small-group conversations and encouraged attendees to openly share experiences, challenges, and strategies related to burnout and boundary-setting in the workplace. Small-group discussions were led by Joanna Cantrell (Shaw Industries), Erin West (Mannington Commercial), Sara Shields, Becca Williams (Tarkett), Whitney Legate (Mannington Commercial), and Jennifer Roundtree (Universal Fibers).
From the moment the session began, attendees were invited into honest and meaningful conversations around the realities many professionals are facing today. Topics included managing overwhelming workloads, balancing personal and professional responsibilities, navigating workplace expectations, and learning how to set healthy boundaries without sacrificing performance or leadership growth.
Professional Development That Creates Real Impact
One of the strongest takeaways from the session was the reminder that professional development goes far beyond technical training. Conversations around burnout, communication, emotional intelligence, and workplace culture are critical to building stronger leaders, healthier teams, and more sustainable organizations.
The interactive format gave attendees the opportunity to not only learn from the facilitators, but also from peers across the flooring industry who are navigating many of the same challenges in their own workplaces and careers.
As Crosby Hall shared during the session, “The strongest professional growth often happens through honest conversations and shared experiences.”
Attendees explored how burnout can affect productivity, collaboration, morale, and long-term retention, while also discussing practical ways leaders and employees can create healthier habits and stronger support systems within their organizations.
Why These Conversations Matter
Today’s workforce is placing greater value on workplace culture, communication, and well-being than ever before. Sessions like From Burnout to Boundaries demonstrate that investing in employees means investing in conversations and leadership skills that directly impact engagement, performance, and retention.
Throughout the Power Hour, facilitators emphasized that boundaries are not barriers to success. They are tools that help professionals remain energized, focused, and effective over the long term.
Erin West reinforced this idea during the discussion, sharing, “Healthy teams are built when people feel supported, respected, and empowered to communicate openly.”
WIFI Connection Hour: From Burnout to Boundaries showed the power of creating space for honest, meaningful conversations in professional settings. Through interactive small-group discussions, attendees walked away with practical insights, fresh perspectives, and real strategies they can apply within their teams and careers.
More than just a webinar, the session reinforced the importance of communication, workplace well-being, and sustainable leadership in today’s business environment while highlighting WIFI’s commitment to delivering professional development that creates lasting impact.
