Goal-Getter Energy: WIFI Workshop at Coverings Inspires Purposeful Goal Setting for 2025

On Wednesday, April 30th, WIFI hosted a dynamic one-hour workshop at the Galvanize Lounge during Coverings in Orlando—an energizing break from the hustle of the trade show floor that brought together women across the flooring industry to connect, reflect, and set bold goals for the year.

The session kicked off with an introduction to Women in the Floorcovering Industry (WIFI) and its growing slate of professional development opportunities. Amie Gilmore, WIFI board member and TISE show director at Informa, shared how WIFI supports women at every stage of their careers through initiatives like:

  • WIFI Power Hours – monthly virtual sessions open to all, featuring rotating topics to help women grow both personally and professionally.

  • WIFI Mentoring Program – a six-month, adult-to-adult match focused on goal-setting, confidence-building, and career development.

  • Post-Secondary & Continuing Education Scholarships – available for college, trade school, certifications, and more to support lifelong learning.

Following this introduction, the workshop shifted to a hands-on goal-setting session led by Amie and Danielle Lancianese, director – tile & stone category at Shaw Industries Group. Attendees participated in a creative vision board exercise, designed to bring their professional aspirations into focus.

The focus of the session was the 70/20/10 Model for Learning and Development—a proven framework used in leadership and business training to break goals down into:

  • 70% experiential learning through on-the-job challenges and stretch projects,

  • 20% social learning via mentorship, peer feedback, and collaboration, and

  • 10% formal learning like courses, certifications, and workshops.

Using this model, participants were encouraged to define their 2025 goals through real-world experience, connection, and education. From public speaking and mentorship to professional development courses, women left the session equipped with strategies to align their aspirations with action.

As Alison Mullins, a member of the WIFI Professional Development Committee, shared: “This was a fabulous way to pause from all the trade show craziness and dream up goals!”

The event offered more than just vision boards—it created space to breathe, plan, and be inspired by a community committed to growth.
